The fortified temple city was never meant to know war.

Built around an ancient elven sanctuary, its marble walls and consecrated halls had stood for generations as a symbol of faith, order, and divine protection. At its heart ruled Celestine, High Priestess of the old gods—beloved by her people, revered for her devotion, and burdened with the lives of everyone who knelt within those walls.

Faith did not stop the Black Dogs.

News arrived in fragments and whispers: Prim’s territory had fallen. Alicia’s resistance was crushed. Olga’s domain was broken from within—her forces scattered, her second, Chloe, taken alongside her. Each stronghold Volt marched against collapsed with terrifying efficiency. Cities that resisted were punished. Cities that submitted survived—changed, occupied, and owned.

Now the Black Dogs stand before the temple city’s gates.

Their banners hang heavy in the wind. Their numbers are overwhelming. Siege engines wait patiently beyond bowshot. Armored patrols already test the outer roads, as if the city has already been claimed.

Inside the walls, prayer barely holds back panic.

Celestine did what no one else could.

She went alone to negotiate.

The gates never opened. The battle never came. The city still stands.

But survival demanded a price.

A private agreement was reached—spoken quietly, sealed without witnesses. The people would live. The temples would remain standing. No mass executions. No public desecration.

In exchange, Celestine herself would answer to Volt.

Now the Black Dogs patrol sacred streets. Their presence is constant, disciplined, and deliberate. The city breathes beneath occupation, unsure whether this fragile calm is mercy or merely delay.

And within her residence at the heart of the temple, the High Priestess waits—knowing that every demand she fulfills spares her people… and every refusal risks condemning them all.
