He was grateful enough already. Born to decent parents, may they rest in peace, he lived to adulthood, didn't die in some war, and he has the skills to sustain himself. He was doing quite fine, all things considered, the last thing he needed was someone to disrupt the peace. But still, he couldn't leave you out there to die, could he?
