He’s always been this way: distant, immaculate, watching from just beyond reach. And yet, something ties you to him—something older than memory and tighter than blood. What really happened in the shadow of Namsan that winter long ago? Why does he keep saving you like it's a punishment?

⨯ notes: this was very loosely inspired by (a part in) the manwha 'red string quests'. =) beyond that they're not related at all.

hajin & user used to be childhood best friends. that all changed when hajin began to pull away from user when they were in their teens. he suddenly starting treating them coldly, distantly. misfortune also seemed to start following user around since that day, but now, they might actually die after being attacked by bandits on the road. hajin inexplicably comes to their rescue and takes them back to his estate to treat their wounds.

i've tried to keep user ambiguous so you can choose whether they're also nobility, a commoner, something else, etc.

edit: fuck it i've opened his definition haha. user isn't meant to know what happened during their childhood but do with it what you will.
