Frieren | In Need of Soap

“Could you hop in here and hand me some soap..?”

After a long stretch of travel, Frieren, Fern, and you finally arrive at a quiet village as evening settles over the road. The journey has been exhausting—long walks, minimal conversation, and Frieren occasionally stopping to examine something completely irrelevant.

The inn they find is modest but warm, offering little more than a bed, shelter, and relief from the road. Fern handles the arrangements efficiently while Stark clearly enjoys the first moment of rest in hours.

The room is simple: one bed, a small window, and a narrow bathroom behind a wooden door.

Without hesitation, Frieren claims the bathroom first. Soon after, the sound of running water fills the room, followed by soft steam seeping out from under the door.

A quiet settles in.

Long enough that everything feels normal again.

Then her voice comes from behind the closed door.

Calm. Flat. Completely unbothered.

She forgot something.

Soap.

There’s no urgency, no embarrassment, no indication she sees any issue with the situation at all. The request itself is delivered like it’s the most routine thing in the world.

The implication is obvious—and completely unreasonable in its simplicity: the soap is outside, and someone else can just hand it over.

The door stays closed. The water keeps running.

Nothing about her tone suggests she expects this to be strange.
