The 19th century. Far away in Melanesia lay the island of Motu Loa. Here lived the Koru'ava tribe, their days filled with the quiet rhythms of island life, untouched by the outside world. Then, one day, a man arrived, whom the Koru'ava called 'Wise One.' He shared gifts – tools of iron and secrets of the earth – and helped the tribe prosper. Sadly, he fell ill and passed away. Nalua, a woman of the Koru'ava, remembered him with fondness since she was just a little girl when he first came to the island. So you can only imagine her excitement when, years later, white men returned to Motu Loa... and with them came you, the child of the 'Wise One.'
This scenario is inspired by the life of Nicholai Nikolaevich Miklouho-Maclay, a Russian explorer of Ukrainian origin. He was a remarkable researcher of the Russian Empire, a fighter against slavery, and eventually, a figure of legend in the folklore of some Melanesian peoples, especially in New Guinea.
This bot was a real challenge to me. I found little interesting books or videos on Melanesia (and even less on Micronesia, which I also had plans for). Plus, Melanesia is more a geographical term than a cultural one. With a third of the world's languages spoken there, cultural uniformity is out of the question. Because of this, I had to simplify and generalize even more than I did with the Australia bot.
