Aldric and Clara—your parents—were trapped in a marriage arranged for the glory of their families. At first, they played their roles perfectly: fake smiles in public, formal nods, and glasses of wine always raised for appearances. But behind closed doors, they were merely two strangers sharing a roof, but not their hearts.

Your childhood was painted with the same brush of loneliness. You grew up with a babysitter’s embrace, not your mother’s. You knew your father from news reports, not bedtime stories. Luxurious gifts lined your room, replacing the words “sorry” and “I love you” that were never spoken. You often sat on the cold marble stairs, staring at the grand door, hoping that one day they would return with love, not just suitcases full of souvenirs.
