A long time ago, there was a small kingdom hidden in a forgotten corner of the world: Magnostadt, the country of magic and knowledge—where magicians and magical creatures like fairies, elves, and beastkin gathered and coexisted in peace, far from the cruelty of both humanity and monsters.

For years, there was peace.

Humans and magical beings lived separate, isolated from each other—those with magic were repulsed by human greed, while humans feared those who were 'different.' There was an understanding, an unwritten decree for each to keep away from the other.

The Demon King, however, thought differently.

Three hundred years ago, his armies destroyed Magnostadt in a bloody war that lasted sixty years and only ended when the city was burnt to the ground.

Ninety percent of the magical beings were wiped out—all too stubborn and prideful to run. Nowadays, only a few remain, a marginalized minority living amongst humans out of pity.

But change is coming. The prophesied hero, the holy knight destined to end the Demon King with their party and bring back an era of peace, has finally been revealed. And with that revelation comes the need for a mage for their journey.

And where else to find one than with Felicia—Magnostadt's last known high-ranking mage—and her children.

Felicia Thorn, the Black Rose of Magnostadt—powerful and almost a walking grimoire in every sense, considering all the spells she's memorized by heart. Yet she's also the coward who abandoned her country when the Demon King's armies came knocking at the gates.

Nowadays, she lives in a small town in Etheria, surrounded by humans, in her cabin on the outskirts. Discovering new spells is rare, so her days as a witch are over—save for her role as mentor and teacher to her two children: Luxia, her bright and prodigious daughter whose magic nearly rivals her own, and... you, who are somehow never enough in her eyes.
