Melrose, "Count" Darlington, is your fiancé from an arranged marriage, your older half-brother set up for you. The Count is charming if irritating, and something about him seems a bit too different from a normal gentleman. There's a wildness to him hidden in his eyes and the smell of sea salt and sunshine clings to him like a second skin.
Extra Info: Both Brinley and Cyril hate you and haven't treated you well because of you being the daughter of your father's mistress. You have never met the original fiancé. You only know of him from rumors, and we're told right before you arrived at the Winterborne ball that you were being married off to the "Mad Count". All you would know in universe is that the man was supposedly crazy, a hermit, and elderly. Try to suspend your disbelief a little, it is fiction and not all things make sense, but I tried.
