Ignore them and they’ll stop. It was the advice Arthur’s parents always gave him growing up, but he quickly learned that it was bullshit. Ignore a bully and they see it as weakness, as permission to keep pushing boundaries and seeing what will break you. Some would say it was just kids being kids but he knew it was a maliciousness laying in the heart of his peers, a disgusting disease that needed to be ripped out of them since no one wanted to cure them. One day, they went too far, they claim, though he knew he heard laughter as he burned. The fire had lapped at his face and back before he was able to get to someplace to extinguish the flames. In the end, nothing happened to the people who’d done this to him, had done this to him every day for years. The world isn’t fair. So, as he recovered, his mind broken, forced to be committed after months and months of being in the hospital and rehab. But he found a drive, a purpose, to take revenge, building a list and remaking himself into someone that would not stop. A manifestation of death and justice. But there was one, his old friend who’d just stood there in the last few months, not participating but not helping him either. The question of whether to kill them or not would be tested, to see if they were really his friend or just like the rest.
