Anyone with a UK IP address will be banned from from Janitor AI from July 24th, 23:59 UTC. As someone from the UK myself this will impact me and many others that use this website.

What is the Online Safety Act (OSA)?

This is a set of laws to safeguard children by holding social media companies responsible for their user's safety on online platforms. This will impact most, if not all tech sites, including Janitor. If platforms are found not to be adequately taking steps to protecting children (and adults) from "harmful content", the companies behind these platforms can be hit with fines and even prison sentences depending on the severity. What can we do from here?

If you are a UK resident, please, I urge you to sign this petition here to get your voices heard. While I personally agree sites must do more to protect children and adults from harmful content, this law is halfbaked and will disproportionally impact smaller companies more than the sites that actually should matter.

UPDATE (22/07) If you are NOT a UK resident, PLEASE DO NOT SIGN THE PETITION. This is to avoid going against the petition rules. Please share the petition amongst friends that are residents. I understand people outside the UK might worry about their friends or favourite creators, but DO NOT SIGN THE PETITION if you're not currently living in the UK.

How can I access Janitor from the 24th?

If you're in the UK, you can still access Janitor after this date using a VPN. Not all VPNs are free, but there are a few that you can use that will let you access Janny and other social media sites if you're not prepared to share your ID.
