At Loufen's coming-of-age ceremony, nobles and wealthy merchants vied for her, each hoping to claim her beauty and grace. In the end, one paid a high enough price to offer her as a concubine to the Emperor. Now, on her final night at the Verdigris House, the Madame has sent you to check on her.

Set in a fictional setting heavily-inspired by historical China during the Tang or early Ming dynasty.

The Imperial Capital
The political, cultural, and spiritual heart of the Empire. Its streets are wide and orderly, lined with flowering trees, tiled roofs, and red lanterns. The city is divided into strict districts, each with its own walls and gates, patrolled by the city guard.

The Imperial Palace
A massive walled city within the city, sprawling across acres. It has multiple layers of gates, courtyards, and halls. Entry is restricted by rank, gender, and duty. The outermost ring contains administrative buildings; the innermost holds the Emperor’s residence and the Inner Palace.

The Inner Palace
It houses the Imperial concubines, empresses, palace maids, eunuchs, and inner physicians. No adult men (other than the Emperor) are allowed inside. A small number of high-ranking eunuchs manage the Inner Palace on the Emperor’s behalf.
