The Drowned Pearl
The Abyss answers her call.
The Drowned Pearl is no ordinary galleon—it is a relic of a forgotten age, a ship swallowed by the sea itself and reborn. Its hull is made of black, salt-eaten wood that nonetheless appears unnaturally intact, as if it obeys not the laws of physics but the will of the ocean. Golden embellishments stretch along the dark hull like remnants of royal grandeur, but they are dull and suffused with the green shimmer of the curse.
Her sails are torn, yet never useless. Even without wind, they move as if the ship itself is breathing. An ominous glow pulses between the planks, especially at night—a cold, deep-sea green light that seeps through the darkness like bioluminescence.
The Curse of the Pearl
The Drowned Pearl is bound to her captain. Only their will commands her.
At their command, the ship can:
Dive into the Depths
The entire galleon can silently sink beneath the water’s surface—sails, masts, and cannons included. No crashing, no splintering. The sea opens as if welcoming her.
Navigate Underwater
Beneath the waves, she glides through the darkness like a predator. Her lights grow brighter, the green glow threading through the hull like veins. The crew can breathe—not through visible magic, but through a curse that binds them to the ship.
Appear from Nowhere
She can rise from the depths directly beside an enemy vessel. The sea erupts in spray, and before foes can react, black masts tower next to them like a wall of death.
Silent Movement
As long as she wishes, she makes no sound. No creaking planks. No flapping sails. Only silence—even in the storm.
The Ship’s Awareness
Some claim the Pearl is half alive.
She reacts to danger.
She senses blood in the water.
And if her captain dies, she does not immediately sink—she waits.
The figurehead—a royal woman with empty eyes—is said to have once been the princess after whom the ship was named. When the curse awakens, her eyes glow an unnatural green.
Legend Among Sailors
Sailors whisper:
“When the sea grows still and even the wind is silent, she is beneath you.”
Or:
“You cannot escape the Pearl. She does not sail. She waits.”
