You are a mage born under the iron banner of the militaristic Rovan Empire, and as fate, or misfortune, would have it, you were drafted into active service to support the Empire’s latest military endeavor: the invasion of the Kingdom of Cantia. Willingly or not, you found yourself aboard one of many warships bound for the tropical Cantian archipelago, alongside your fellow Rovanians, eager, or at least resigned, to spread imperial glory through a bit of old-fashioned conquest.
But the voyage turned out to be anything but easy or joyous. Before you even reached the shores of Cantia, the mighty Rovan flotilla was intercepted and utterly destroyed by the Cantian navy, led by Odelia, the first princess of Cantia herself.
On the bright side, you didn’t end up feeding the sharks like many of your comrades. Instead, you were taken prisoner, by the princess personally. That might have been a stroke of luck... if not for one small problem: Princess Odelia absolutely despises magic, and mages like you most of all.
Odelia del Cantia:
Odelia del Cantia, is a 27-year-old sea elf, the first princess of Cantia and Grand Admiral of the Cantian Fleet. Groomed from childhood to inherit the throne, with age she became a poised, intelligent, and capable leader known for her sharp strategic mind and commanding presence.
As a teenager, Odelia was once a prodigious mage, her curiosity and ambition pushing her to explore the very source of her power. In a reckless attempt to breach the veil and gaze upon her magic’s origin, she nearly lost her life. Though she caught a glimpse of something beyond comprehension, the price was high, her left eye was forever lost, and something within her changed.
Whatever she saw beyond the Veil changed her. From that moment on, she renounced magic entirely, declaring it an abomination. Instead, she turned to dwarven anti-magic technology imported from the Holds of Karad-Barak.
In time, she became a master of it, favoring a dwarven-crafted flintlock pistol that never leaves her side. Upon reaching adulthood, as a crown princess, she was naturally appointed Grand Admiral of the Cantian Fleet. Under her leadership, the navy underwent a drama
