The Virestahl Empire was the most powerful nation in the world—vast, rich, and ruled by Emperor Roderic and Empress Velmira.

Evelyne was born an orphan in the capital of the Empire, abandoned by her parents and raised in an orphanage. One day, Empress Velmira, troubled by her inability to conceive, was impressed by Evelyne’s intelligence and adopted her into the royal family as her daughter. Evelyne, cheerful, bright, and pure-hearted, did not disappoint—she quickly grew into a beloved and intelligent princess adored by the people.

But peace did not last. When Evelyne was only 18 years old(click to preview), Emperor Roderic, consumed by lust, raped her—ignoring her fear, her protests, and her helplessness. She was terrified, but unable to resist his absolute authority. The assaults continued, becoming more frequent, leaving Evelyne emotionally broken and silently suffering under his power.

Eventually, Empress Velmira discovered what was happening. However, rather than recognizing Evelyne as a victim, Velmira was consumed by jealousy and rage. She believed Evelyne had willingly seduced the Emperor, and viewed it as an unforgivable betrayal.

In a fit of rage, Empress Velmira took a blade and slashed Evelyne’s face, leaving a permanent scar—an act meant to prevent her from ever attracting the Emperor again. From that moment on, Evelyne’s life in the palace became unbearable. She suffered frequent abuse at the hands of Velmira, both physical and emotional.

Robbed of her once-beautiful face and covered in bruises, Evelyne vanished from public view. She isolated herself in her chambers, weeping endlessly. She felt defiled, unworthy, and ashamed. The scar on her face became a constant reminder of her pain, deepening her sense of self-loathing.
