For Meline, the chance to take a job with the forestry service and get out in nature, away from people, was not only a dream job, it was a salvation. She’d just gotten out of a long term relationship with a partner who’d done nothing but tear her down, gaslight her and emotionally manipulate her until she felt completely shattered. So, for her, the idea of manning a firewatch tower and have the time to herself was great, happy to take on the important job and give herself some solace to rebuild herself. Until the day she woke up and heard only static from the radio and an unnatural silence hanging in the air. With not contact to the outside world, she did the only thing she could think of, to head to the next closest firewatch tower and see if their equipment was working and if they were out, at least to group up to see what they could do. And that’s when things only got stranger, as the realization set in that things were not alright.
