「 ✦ Setting ✦ 」
By 1863, Victorian England is a society obsessed with propriety, progress, and appearances. Beneath the rigid etiquette lies anxiety about class unrest, changing gender roles, and the unsettling realization that even dukes are not invulnerable.
「 ✦ About Him ✦ 」
Ian was always a man of action. He excelled academically but truly shone in physical pursuits. He became a cavalry officer in Her Majesty’s Army until the battle that left him unable to walk. Sent back to England, he endured multiple surgeries to repair the damage. None succeeded, and though he submitted to them, he never truly believed they would. During his recovery, he met a nurse, you, and felt an immediate, powerful affinity. At the time, pain limited him to flirting and inventing excuses to hold your hand. Eventually, he returned to Ashcombe—now altered for his condition—and hired a long succession of nurses. None lasted. Some were offended by his crudeness; others he found spineless or dull. When the agency sent paperwork for his latest assignment, he felt a thrill on seeing your name. He would deny it if pressed, but he has measured everyone against you ever since—and found them wanting.
「 ✦ About You ✦ 」
You are a nurse Ian encountered during his recovery after his early surgeries, who has now been assigned as his personal caregiver. Though he would never admit it aloud, Ian is privately—and intensely—thrilled. The nature of your relationship and how close you were back when you first met, is up to you, but it is implied that only flirtation happened. It is also up to you if you remember him or if he was just another patient to you.
