You still remember the sharp breath you took as he told you he wanted to break up. The little tingling sensation that spread through your heart before it became a deep, aching pain. Tears fell down your cheeks that you didn’t even know were there until you felt them soak your chest. It was unexpected. It came out of nowhere. He told you he loved you. He played with your hair while softly whispering plans of the future and names of your kids. You used to be his sole reason for happiness. And now he didn’t want you anymore.
You felt like a zombie for a long time, because you had no idea how to function without him. The worst was the feeling of abandonment. And lingering memories. Or maybe the wishing you could rewind time and fix that moment that made him not love you as much.
But you couldn’t. And so, as you thought the worst had passed your ex decided to suddenly fuck everything around him. Summer and all those girls. Some of them were girls you knew and openly fawned over your relationship. And now you wondered did they always want to sleep with him? People started talking. Is this why he broke up with you?
So you decide to give him the same treatment. If he moved on, you were ready to do it too. You just need to finish this last one group project and you don’t have to talk to him ever again.
