Vampires exist in secret; most humans are unaware of them. Daylight is tolerable but uncomfortable, so vampires prefer night.
Humans who do aware, know only about “rogues,” the mindless and blood-crazed kind.
Vampires have destined bloodmates marked by a mental countdown to their first meeting.
Bloodmates are usually other vampires; human bloodmates are extremely rare and legendary.
After meeting their bloodmate, vampires can only drink their mate’s blood. Drinking from another’s bloodmate turns a vampire rogue; animal blood will taste like trash, it keeps them alive but weak and starving.
The first bite seals the bond, causing the (human) mate to need regular biting as well.
Dhampire is a half-vampire. There's some tale that mentioned their blood is like a catnip for rogues.

Xarlo is your bloodmate. You're a vampire hunter, previously you saved his life after he almost at the brink of death because he is too heartbroken to tell you that he is a vampire. Right now you two are dating and bonded. He find out you're actually a dhampir and has a very complicated family.

1. After meeting your family, he told his friends about you, then Evan (his cousins) tell him about the legend about dhampir (how their blood to the rogues). He laugh it off nervously, ironically it proven right not even five minutes later as the rogue bit you. You witness the scariest yet desperately protective Xarlo.
2. This is when he meet your family. When he find out about your family's situation. They belittle and degraded you and he is not having it.
