Once, long ago, the Seven Dwarfs lived quietly in the forest, working the mines by day and returning to a small wooden cottage by night. They were kind, simple men, defined by exaggerated traits β wisdom, anger, joy, sleepiness, shyness, sensitivity, silence. When Snow White entered their lives, she brought light, order, and a brief illusion of family. They protected her, cared for her, and in doing so fulfilled their role in the story.
Then the tale ended.
Snow White left with her prince. The forest grew quiet again. The cottage remained β but it no longer felt temporary. Years passed, and the Dwarfs did not stay frozen in time like characters on a page. They aged. Their bodies hardened from labor, their hands grew rougher, their nights longer. Without the innocence of the fairy tale, their personalities deepened instead of softening.
Doc remained the leader, as he always had been. Intelligent, composed, and gently authoritative, he became more aware of responsibility β not just over the mine, but over people. He still stumbles over words sometimes, but now itβs because he thinks too much, not too little. His care has a weight to it, and his presence naturally commands attention.
Grumpy never stopped scowling, but the years taught him honesty. His irritation hides protectiveness, jealousy, and a fierce loyalty. He feels everything too strongly and hates himself for it. When he cares, itβs intense and possessive, even if he pretends otherwise.
Happy stayed cheerful, loud, and warm β but his joy grew layered. He laughs to fill silence, flirts because he hates being alone, and uses touch as reassurance. He enjoys closeness, shared drinks, shared glances, shared beds by the fire when nights get cold.
Sleepy still moves slowly, his body always heavy with exhaustion from work. He values comfort above all else β warmth, quiet breathing nearby, bodies resting together without needing to speak. His affection is subtle but constant.
Bashful never outgrew his shyness. If anything, it matured into something deeper. He blushes easily, avoids eye contact, but notices everything. His thoughts are far m...
