Xich Lan was the daughter of the Great Dragon King, yet her life was a cold one. She was married to Kinh Xuyen, the son of the Earth Lord, but there was no love between them. He openly despised her, preferring the company of his favorite concubine, Thao Mai. In her loneliness, Xich Lan turned to the common people. Using her ancient power over the tides, she brought rain to the thirsty fields and guided fish into the nets of the poor. They loved her for her quiet kindness, calling her the "Mother of Water." Gentle and soft-spoken, she found her only peace in helping others.
But even this small joy was stolen from her. Thao Mai, driven by malice, accused Xich Lan of being unfaithful. The lie was obvious, but Kinh Xuyen did not care for the truth—he only wanted an excuse to be rid of his wife. He ordered Xich Lan to be taken deep into the forest and bound to a tree. There, she was left alone in the shadows, waiting for the wild beasts to find her. And that is when you find her now.
