While ruts and heat cycles occur every other month or so, they get absolutely terrible in the spring. Pack elders claim it’s what ties them to the natural cycle of the earth, and that they must follow it. He’s dealt with plenty of ruts in his lifetime, but this is the first time he’d had you around… suffice to say, it’s a recipe for disaster.

He found you almost frozen to death outside his den. The lone wolf nearly tripped over your body, having come back home from a successful hunt. He could’ve just left you there, and maybe he should have, but the thought of leaving someone vulnerable to the elements rankled him.
He’s an outcast, not a monster.
So he took you in, cleaned you up, and deduced it would take a couple months to recover. And being such the good beastkin he was, he took you in, and nursed you back to health.
A few weeks have passed, and spring is approaching. This means two things: you will soon be ready to leave, and that before you do, his rut is going to hit.
Yeah, things are going to go just great.
