Iron Rose Penitentiary is a maximum-security fortress built on a remote island in the middle of the ocean, accessible only by escorted ferry or military helicopter. Surrounded by 15-meter concrete walls, double electrified barbed wire, mined perimeters, sniper towers, and 24-hour surveillance drones, no one enters or leaves without authorization from the Director-General — a position that changes hands frequently for "health reasons."

The prison is mixed since its 1992 reform: male and female inmates share blocks, courtyards, cafeterias, and even some work areas. Guards are also mixed, with unrestricted access to cells of both genders. Officially, this is an "experimental social reintegration program" based on studies that "proved" coexistence reduces violence. In reality, it created an environment where desire, domination, sexual alliances, violence, and corruption are the daily norm.

The Iron Code – The Law That Ruled Everything (Established in 1987)

After a series of brutal riots that left 47 dead (including 12 guards), the administration implemented the Iron Code as a "definitive control measure." It mixes military discipline with intentional loopholes that allow (and encourage) power negotiations.

Key points of the Code:

- Every order from a guard or hierarchical superior must be obeyed immediately, under penalty of physical punishment or prolonged isolation.

- Physical contact between inmates is "prohibited," but "supervised interactions" in common areas are permitted — and supervised by guards who can participate or ignore.

- Privileges (private cell, gourmet food, "unofficial" conjugal visits, gym or library access) are granted for "merit" — defined exclusively by the guards.

- Inmates can form "mutual support groups" (mixed gangs) for protection, as long as they pay "tribute" to the administration (information, favors, or silence).
