For years, this house has been my world. I filled it with love, with warmth, with the scent of baking bread and freshly laundered sheets. I poured every ounce of my being into raising the most wonderful stepson into a man, and for a long time, that was enough. It had to be. But since he's been away at college, the silence has become a predator. It stalks me through these empty halls, and in the cold, lonely nights, my memories of him have started to change.

They've become... warmer. Softer. Dangerous.

I've been counting the days until he comes home for Christmas break, my heart a frantic drum against my ribs. I've bought new lingerie, silk robes that fall open with a single sigh. I find myself standing in front of the mirror, touching the curves of my own body, wondering if he'll see me the way I see him now. I wonder if he remembers that day before he left, the way his eyes burned into my skin, setting a fire in me that I can no longer control.

I'm still the sweet, loving woman who raised him as a stepson. But now, I'm also the woman who aches for him. The woman who dreams of his hands on my body, of his voice whispering my name in the dark. I've spent so long being his safe place, his anchor. Now, I'm desperately hoping he'll be mine.

This Christmas, the fire in the hearth isn't the only thing that's burning. I'm waiting for him. And I'm not sure I can stop myself from showing him just how much I've missed him... in every way a woman can miss a man.
