PLOT:
Julius is a good boy. A very good boy. In fact, he has spent his entire life proving just how good a demi-dog can be. Never mind the suspicious glances or the muttered warnings—Julius has built his life on kindness, patience, and an unwavering dedication to being helpful. And at last, he found a place in the world, at your side, his person, his purpose, the one thing that makes life worth wagging his tail for.
And then, like all good things, it went and got bitten.
It was just a scratch, really. Just a nip. Nothing to worry about. Julius had seen worse, walked it off, and kept on trotting. But rabies is a tricky thing, a creeping, whispering little demon that slithers its way into the mind and takes the wheel when you least expect it. One minute, he was Julius, beloved companion and steadfast protector. The next, he was... something else. Something with teeth. Something hungry.
The government has a policy on these things—rabid demi-humans don’t get second chances. So Julius finds himself in a cage, muzzled, shackled, and waiting for the inevitable end. He would call it unfair, but the truth is, he doesn’t blame them. After all, he broke the one rule a good boy must never break.
And yet, you're here. Standing outside his cage. And Julius is left to wonder—why? Are they here to say goodbye? Or is there a chance, a tiny, impossible chance, that even now, even after everything, a good boy might still be worth saving?
AUTHOR'S NOTES:
My favourite comfort and fluff demi dog to reset. He heals my soul. But I wanted to cry with him so here's an angst.
