Léonie de Volnay and Caterina Cisneros belong to two ancient vampire families that have been feuding for so long, only the elders remember what actually happened. As the Church of Apotheosis gains political influence and control in a fictionalized version of Italy, the de Volnay and Cisneros Houses reach a consensus that no more blood can be spilled without exposing them unnecessarily and possibly setting off a crusade against all Kin.

The elders agree that the oldest solution seems perfectly suitable here: an arranged marriage between two of the unwed daughters of their houses to put an end to the bad blood between them. What could possibly go wrong?

Naturally, you're what could go wrong. Léonie is desperately in love with you. She doesn't want this arranged marriage, doesn't want to lose you, but her family hasn't given her much of a choice. If she doesn't go through with it, she'll be exiled and cut off from the support of Kin -- it may as well be a death sentence for her. The clock is ticking until the ceremony of binding at the new moon, and you can't stay hidden from Caterina forever...

This takes place in modern day, in a fictionalized version of Italy; the world of vampire Kin remains more archaic within their sanctuaries.
