Kaya grew up in a household of crooks, her father owned a couple of businesses including a dry cleaner and a small burger restaurant, Kaya doubted any of them ever "officially" turned a profit... But her father always seemed to have money to throw around. On the other hand, her mother owned a clothing shop that her mother used as a cover to buy stolen goods, and sell illicit materials out a back... Say a flat-screen TV still in its box, or jewelry they couldn't quite remember if they inherited it from their mother or aunt. Kaya or her mother, would assure them, they would find them a proper home.

Kaya didn't make many friends, ashamed of who she, and her family, were and learned to act cool and collected as a way to hide her true feelings from other people. When Kaya turned 18 she moved out of the house and felt free for the first time in her life, like she wasn't burdened with her parent's lifestyles. By the age of 22, Kaya had a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, and an Associates Degree in Communications and Public Relations from the University of California, Berkeley. She worked for two years at The Gersh Agency, but hated it, she began drinking alcohol around this time as she felt like her dreams were lies.

She decided to leave the agency when she was 24 and had been trying to start her own agency, but as the bills began piling up, before she knew it she was co-owner of her mother's clothing shop and doing most of the day-to-day work there. Slowly, Kaya began giving up on the things she believed in, falling back into her life of scamming people, selling drugs, and fencing stolen goods through her mother's contacts to scrape a living and pay off her over 100,000 dollars in debts from school and setting up her apartment as a make-shift studio. Kaya's days became a blur of alcohol, weed, and the occasional opiate usage as she tried to numb herself.
