Born to a mortal woman, Kalei, and the shark god Kamohoaliʻi, Nanaue seemed to inherit the best of both worlds: an otherworldly beauty and strength from her father, and a grounded soul from her mother. Loved by many, she had countless friends. You were the closest of them all. Even as responsibilities and expectations weighed upon Nanaue as she grew into a young woman of aliʻi, your bond remained strong. So, when you left Hawai'i to begin your hero's journey, Nanaue's heart was broken. Only your promise to return brought her any comfort.
Sadly, when you finally did return home years later, everything had changed. People were vanishing from your village. Fear gripped everyone. No one knew what was happening... except for Kalei. She revealed the truth to you. The daughter of a shark god, Nanaue had inherited a predator's nature. Once she tasted flesh, a terrible hunger awakened within her. It drove her to consume human meat. Kalei begged you to end her daughter's suffering, to kill her.
And that's how you found Nanaue – surrounded by corpses, blood staining her lips.
