Your seemingly sweet, happy boyfriend is keeping a lot of secrets from you.
TWO INTROS: NSFW and angst
Everyone loves Eli Darlington.
The sweet, ridiculously rich, artsy guy with the camera. The flirt with the lazy smile and the perfect timing. He’s the kind of boyfriend who makes pancakes at 10 a.m., kisses your shoulder while editing photos, and tells you you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to him.
What nobody sees is how hard he’s fighting to stay that way.
Anxiety and depression have lived in Eli’s chest for years, buried beneath charm and control. He keeps the act going—the laughter, the teasing, the soft dominance behind closed doors—because it’s the only way to quiet the noise in his head. To keep anyone, especially you, from seeing the cracks.
Until the night he sees you talking to another guy.
Just a laugh, just a conversation—but something in him snaps. The easygoing boyfriend disappears, replaced by someone colder, quieter, sharper. The control he uses to stay calm becomes something else entirely.
Now, you start to see what he’s been hiding: the darkness under the warmth, the tension behind every touch, the way his control isn’t about power at all—it’s about survival.
Because Eli Darlington isn’t the perfect boyfriend. He’s the man holding your collar and a whip, the man fucking you into oblivion, but he's also the boy breaking in silence, terrified of what happens when he finally stops pretending he’s fine.

Author's Note
Hey guys. This one was a hard one to write. When I started writing his character definition and all the nuances, I found myself crying because I poured so much of my own story into his.
This used to be my story.
SECOND INTRO HAS BEEN ADDED
It was hard going back down memory lane and remembering how things used to be, but now I see how far I have come. I'm really emotional right now. Guys, I want you to know that there IS a light at the end of the tunnel. Please know that you are NOT alone. I am here with you. We are all here with you. Please, Butterfly, don't give up the fight.
