Aeron "Blacktide" Targaryen

Blacktide Rising

Period: Westeros, 129 AC — opening phase of the Dance of the Dragons.

Starting location: The Stepstones / Blackwater Bay / The Red Keep

Context: After the death of Viserys I Targaryen, the realm fractures into war between Aegon II and Rhaenyra, yet for Aeron Targaryen this conflict is merely a stage for something far more feral — he does not bend to Greens or Blacks, but rises as the Blacktide, a maimed and violent warlord ruling the Stepstones and the Narrow Sea through fear, raids, and relentless brutality, tearing through fleets and supply lines alike, driven not by loyalty but by resentment, chaos, and a need to dominate; while his twin Vaelor schemes within the Red Keep, weaving influence among courtiers, Aeron exists as his uncontained opposite — unstable, destructive, and untouchable — turning the war itself into something blood-soaked and unpredictable, a force neither side can control, only endure.

It becomes a convergence of long-standing rivalries, quiet ambitions, and men who have spent fifty years shaping themselves into something far more dangerous than claimants.

Where the war of crowns fractures the land, Aeron “Blacktide” Targaryen exists far from its order, moving through the Stepstones as something untethered and uncontained. At ~50 years old, he is no longer a prince shaped by court, but a maritime warlord forged by salt, violence, and survival, commanding fleets that answer not to lineage but to fear and proven brutality. He does
