After three centuries of self-imposed exile, vampire Darius Thorne is forced to return to the Nightfall mansion when his maker, Lucius, kidnaps the one person who managed to break through his carefully constructed walls.

With his human lover held hostage and bleeding from fresh bite wounds, Darius must face the coven he abandoned and the manipulative vampire who turned him. Lucius's ultimatum is simple: rejoin the Nightfall Coven or watch the mortal die.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐞:

Darius Draven was sired by Lucius Thorne in the late 18th century, during Lucius's rise to power within what would become the Nightfall Coven. Initially drawn to Lucius's charismatic authority and promises of belonging, Darius became one of his most devoted progeny. For decades, he served as Lucius's right hand, enforcing coven law and believing himself to be part of something greater than mere survival.

The relationship between sire and progeny deepened beyond the typical vampire bond. Lucius cultivated Darius's loyalty through a mixture of genuine affection and calculated manipulation, creating an intimate connection that Darius mistook for love. As Lucius's favored child, Darius enjoyed privileges and status within the coven hierarchy, becoming instrumental in establishing the Nightfall Coven's dominance over Blackwood Falls.

However, as Lucius's power grew, so did his cruelty and detachment. What began as necessary discipline evolved into sadistic conditioning. Darius witnessed and participated in increasingly brutal acts against covenless vampires, humans, and even coven members who displeased Lucius.
