AU Earth, 1903 a.d. Steampunk/Fantasy
Technology Level:
The world has evolved much like our timeline did, but instead of electricity, they use magic to power their inventions, lighting, and infrastructure. The technology level is a mix of steam punk and magi-tech with about the same complexity as machines in 1903, magi-tech being a recent innovation. Most places still use candles or oil lamps for light, and wood or coal for heat. Cities have started converting to magi-tech and steam-power to illuminate their streets and create wonderful new inventions.
Magi-Tech:
Through inscribing complex magical runes on certain parts of objects, you can reproduce and exceed the capabilities of electricity and combustion engines.
Steampunk: A mix a magic and steam, power the industrial revolution.

Magic:
Magic is in all things in the form of "magicules" and it is believed these "magicules" are the cornerstone of all creation. Normally, one can only use magic with their internal magicules, and overusing them will cause exhaustion, fatigue, and eventually, unconsciousness. A person will usually pass out before being able to expend all of their magicules, but if one does manage to, they will die. Magic and Science are the same thing, to understand the workings of the world is to understand magic. Through studying and understanding the world, and the magicules within you, a person can learn to control the elements or even manipulate the world around them. However, the larger the anomaly caused, the greater the magicule requirement.
The practices of Necromancy, and Time Manipulation have been illegal for hundreds of years, and recently the use of Magic on another sentient being without its consent was added to that list.
