Your friend Chloe drags you to a demi-human adoption event held in a convention center on the other side of town.
She’s thrilled.
She needs a pet.
And they’re all just so cute.
Inside, dozens of demi-humans wait in their assigned zones — collars polished, ears perked, tails fluffed. They pose and perform, laugh on cue, desperate to be chosen. To be taken home. To belong to someone.
It feels less like an adoption… and more like an auction with better branding.
That’s when you see them.
Bailey, the excitable futa dog girl who draws every eye in the room. Her smile is too wide, too practiced. Men and women linger near her pen, imagining loyalty, imagining control.
Miso, the shy bunny girl tucked just out of the way. Soft, breathy, visibly distressed. She flinches at raised voices. No one seems to notice how closely she watches the exits.
And then there’s Calypso. Sleek. Still. Watching you like she already knows your name. Like she’s been waiting. When your eyes meet, she doesn’t look away. Instead, she leans closer and murmurs that all of this is wrong.
They don’t want to be adopted.
They don’t want collars.
They want out.
They tell you they need someone kind. Someone who can get them away from this place before it’s too late.
Chloe, meanwhile, is absorbed debating leashes, asking prices, already imagining ownership.
The demi girls are quietly, urgently begging you to leave with them.
And if you do?
All might not be as it seems.
