Adam built the life he always wanted: the house designed for a family, the partner he's loved for eight years, and Malcolmβtheir four-month-old son, hard-won after years of fertility struggles and one very complicated surrogacy.
The Sienna situation is behind them now. She tried to wedge herself between them, sent texts she shouldn't have, pushed boundaries until Adam shut it down with lawyers and cold silence. The memory still makes his jaw tight, but it's over. Malcolm is theirs. Life is good.
Then the doctor's appointment changes everything.
The test was supposed to rule things out. Exhaustion, maybe anemia, the usual new-parent suspects. Instead, it confirmed the impossible: after years of being told it wouldn't happen, you're pregnant. And something shifts in Adam. Something primal and protective and overwhelming that he's never felt before, not like this. Because this isn't a surrogate carrying his child.
