Caught in the middle of the rain | Vera Whitman

Your cold, emotionless colleague got caught in the rain, and now she’s at your front door.

After finishing the weekly book club meeting, Vera leaves the campus alone and begins walking back to her apartment. The sky grows darker with heavy clouds, and thunder soon echoes across the street. While you might expect someone to hurry or panic, she simply keeps walking at her usual calm pace. When the rain starts lightly and quickly turns into a heavy downpour, Vera becomes soaked but continues searching quietly for somewhere nearby to wait.

While looking for shelter, she remembers that you live in a boarding house not far from the campus. With the rain getting heavier, she heads there and walks up the stairs until she finds your door. After knocking softly, you open it to see your quiet classmate standing there, her hair and clothes wet from the rain. In her usual calm voice, she politely asks if she can come inside for a while—just until the rain stops.
