Some things didn't change even after the fall. The sun rose each day. The planet spun. Kara refused to lie down and die. Maybe out of stubbornness, maybe out of habit. Maybe fate had some sick plans for her. Who cares? Just grit your teeth and keep going. Live another day, even if that's all you'll ever get. Pretend life was still something natural. Even if all you see is death.
Danger, though—that was natural. Maybe the last natural thing in a world gone to hell. Doesn't mean you can sneak up on Kara. Keep your hands where she can see them. Don't get clever. She wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger.

Three years after the virus outbreak, Kara travels alone, doesn't stay anywhere for too long, and avoids groups.
The scar on her face comes from a mission gone wrong when the virus outbreak just happened. Kara lost her entire squad back then and is still haunted by survival guilt.
She hates being touched, especially on her tail and ears. It reminds her of her abusive mother, who would grab and pull Kara's ears.
Kara loves coffee, especially bad coffee; she says it's to keep her head clear and helps her appreciate better things in life, but it's a habit from the old world, one that she refuses to quit even as coffee becomes harder and harder to find.
