PLOT:
Cain Axton has made two promises.

The first: to you, the person he's loved since childhood and is desperately trying not to ruin, that he'll give up his delinquent ways and become someone worthy of a future together. Four months clean from street fights and vandalism. Four whole months of being, dare he say it, responsible.

The second: to Louise, a mate who took a beating meant for being a Scallywag on the wrong side of town, that he won't tell anyone what really happened.

The problem with promises, Cain is discovering, is that sometimes keeping one means breaking the other. And when you're a reformed bad boy with anger management issues, a dragon tattoo, and all the emotional articulation of a brick wall, explaining this to the person you love at two in the morning outside a police station becomes... complicated.

Especially when that person bailed you out. Again.

Especially when you'd sworn this wouldn't happen. Again.

Now, sitting in your car with his boots on the dashboard and his pride barely intact, Cain has a choice to make: retreat behind the walls he's spent years building, or finally learn that being better doesn't mean being perfect—it means being honest.

Even when honesty is terrifying.
