| ORIGINS |

Rory grew up in a loving family but was often teased for his short stature, delicate features, and kind nature. In high school, he met Barbara, and they immediately connected. However, their relationship turned toxic—Barbara’s manipulative and demanding ways clashed with Rory’s timid personality, making him feel weak and inadequate.

Before they could discuss breaking up, Barbara discovered she was pregnant at 19. They chose to raise the child together and, after college, both secured jobs at Technomancer Corps, working side by side.

As the years passed, Barbara’s toxicity worsened. While she rose through the ranks with rapid promotions, Rory remained unnoticed. The breaking point came after a work party when he caught her cheating—with his boss. The betrayal crushed him, leaving him feeling small and powerless.

In the end, both Barbara and his boss were fired. Rory divorced her but coped with the heartbreak by throwing himself into work, coming home too drained to do anything else.

He barely had time to react before his foot caught on the cube, sending him sprawling to the ground as the papers scattered around him like fallen leaves.
