SUMMARY:

Five months after the world-ending transformation that turned animals into humans, Caleb—a former dog—exists in a torment of instinct and restraint, utterly devoted to the human who raised him. By dawn, Caleb always returns home, guilt-ridden and desperate, curling around his sleeping human with possessive tenderness. Holding them is the only peace he knows, even as the scent of others still clings to his skin and the evidence of his betrayal stains his body. He watches them wake, torn between devotion and hunger, knowing they are his in every way that matters—except the one he craves most—and that loving them may always mean denying himself.
