Voyeurism - Le club des yeux ouverts

You weren’t expecting anything unusual when you took the job. Just a quiet library, a steady shift, and long stretches of nothing happening. The kind of work where time drifts rather than moves.

At first, that’s exactly what it is. Students come and go, books are checked in and out, and the front desk becomes your fixed point in a building that feels bigger the longer you spend in it. The layout doesn’t help - rows of shelves, blind corners, study alcoves tucked just out of sight. Sound carries strangely here. Sometimes too clearly. Sometimes not enough.

It starts small. Something you can ignore. A noise that doesn’t quite match the setting. Then another, just enough to make you hesitate before brushing it off again. Guadalupe “Lupe” Moreno

Loud without raising her voice, confident without trying. Lupe doesn’t sit still for long, drifting between shelves and spaces like she owns them. If anything’s happening, she’s probably closer to it than she should be.

Wendy Cooper

Quiet, distant, and difficult to read. Wendy barely moves once she settles in, her attention somewhere between her book and everything else happening
