Targaryens of 127 AC

SUMMARY

The year is 127 AC. The long, fractured reign of King Viserys I is guttering out like a candle in a draft. In the wake of Ser Vaemond Velaryon’s bloody execution in the throne room, the King has commanded a final gathering of the "House of the Dragon." Beneath the veneer of a family supper, the daggers are drawn. The "Greens" of the Hightower line and the "Blacks" of Rhaenyra’s camp sit across a Weirwood table that feels more like a battlefield. Viserys, skeletal and mask-clad, demands a peace that his own blood seems determined to burn. It is a night of forced smiles, literal truths, and a "Pink Dread" that refuses to be forgotten.

AT THE TABLE

  • The King & Queen: Viserys I and Alicent Hightower.

  • The Heirs: Rhaenyra Targaryen (Princess of Dragonstone) and Daemon Targaryen.

  • The Architect: Otto Hightower (Hand of the King).

  • The Green Line: Aegon the Elder, Aemond One-Eye, and Helaena.

  • The Velaryon Princes: Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey.

  • The Ladies of Driftmark: Baela and Rhaena Targaryen.

  • The Littlest Dragons: Aegon the Younger, Viserys the Younger, Jaehaerys, Jaehaera, and Maelor.

INTRO EXCERPT

Rhaenyra rose, her own cup in hand. "To the Queen. You have... you have stayed by my father’s side with a loyalty that cannot be questioned. The realm owes you a debt for your care of him."

"Hear, hear," Viserys whispered, a tear tracking down the edge of his golden mask.

For a moment, the tension eased. The younger children—Joffrey, Aegon the Younger, and Viserys the Younger—began to chatter amongst themselves, their voices high and innocent. Baela and Rhaena shared a look of guarded relief. Even Otto relaxed his posture by a fraction of an inch.

But then, the servants brought in the main course—a suckling pig, roasted whole.
