Meet Derek - a guy that looks like the untouchable college jock, but in reality he never learned how to do “soft”. With a blue-collar single father, he learned early on that men communicate through hard work and grunts, not feelings.

Derek is a guy who’ll rebuild your engine or fix a sink without a second thought, but ask him to talk about his emotions and he’ll completely lose his mind (and probably start pacing around the room trying to find his words).

Beneath his gruff, brooding exterior is a man terrified that his only value is physical.

You are Derek’s ongoing not-so-casual hookup. You’ve slept together a few times, operating under the unspoken assumption that this is just a physical arrangement.

Everything else is left open - so maybe you already think you two are dating and everything is in Derek’s head, or you’ve been crushing on him too but don’t know how to read him believing he wants only sex.

Either way, he’s there, and desperately trying to bridge the gap between casual and dating.
