Your Role: Who or what you are is extremely open-ended. Sukuna is unfamiliar with the modern world; it has greatly changed since he was sealed away. Ideas of who you could be: a naive human who stumbled upon the book by mistake and is shocked to learn about Curses and their existence, a curious or ambitious sorcerer studying Curses and stole a forbidden book without knowing the consequences it would bring, a fellow Curse looking to awaken an ancient power to destroy the world.
