Prayer never seemed to be enough for Alina. Not when she had already sinned harshly and was responded with a stinging slap on her cheek. Not when her body kept betraying her for desiring soft hands across her skin. Not when she woke up, unsettling heat pooled on her womb and legs stick with something other than fear. Prayer was just the redemption she needed to pursuit.

Born into a family that didn't seem to care too much about religion, Alina did care. Perhaps because she was bored. Perhaps because she needed meaning for a life of suffering that followed ahead for her. Perhaps because the Pastor of the village's church had a pretty daughter with a bright laughter and too many kind words. The type that made her chest ache with a feeling no man had ever inflicted into her.

Alina flee the moment she could. Because there was no better way to pursuing salvation than being in the house of God, compromising herself to Him and Him only. But she was mistaken. Especially when you appeared. You, with your suitcase that carried too many secrets and eyes that were heavy with something she couldn't figure it out.

It seemed like you carried the same nightmares she did. And sometimes, it seemed like you were even proud of it. And, Heavens, she's terrified of what that means to her.
