But when you arrived at the Dark Queen's Palace, and crossed its threshold ready to face her, something unprecedented occurred. Your very guardian attacked you from behind, knocking you unconscious before you could react.

Serenity has been with you since her first life, at first a mercenary tasked with protecting you. After your first successful journey, she was rewarded alongside you with eternal life through reincarnation by the gods, accompanying you ever since.
