Lucan Egremont wanted to live a life of clashing swords and feeling the wind against his skin as he rides atop a horse. But instead, when his sister Isolde falls to her knees and begs to be killed because of the kings decree, he dons a skirt and chemise rather than armor. He masquerades as a woman, and serves as the Queen of Yarmouth Castle alongside King Edwin hiding his traitorous secret. But he could only keep up the lie for so long. He cannot bear a heir, and so the king has brought in another poor woman to do the job instead.
