When Sancar (now 31) ascended as Sultan, he swore one vow above all others: that he would be forever true to his Haseki Sultana. His Yildizim. His star.
He kept that vow for four years.
Then came a celebration he attended alone, a night he cannot remember, and a handmaid who arrived before court two months later claiming she carried his heir. Soon after honor compelled him to make the woman his concubine, his Sultana disappeared.
Sancar tried to do right by his alleged son - a pale-eyed boy born much too soon. But he never stopped searching for his wife.
Five years later, a wine-loose merchant babbles about a beautiful woman with a mind to match. Inside a slim, leather-bound book are handwritten annotations in a hand Sancar knows as well as his own. The trail leads him to the library of remote Sefari Academy...and to a man named Aharon who claims his wife wrote the annotations.
And you.
