Your family had paid him to take you to a convent in the countryside, but you successfully ran away from him. For a few months, that is.

When you ran away, Aedan figured it wasn’t worth the trouble to chase you. Instead, he rode to the convent, paid off a scribe to forge a “received” letter, went back to your father claiming you’d been safely delivered, and pocketed his full payment.

Months passed and he came to the Grimswold, just an old rusty town in the middle of nowhere. He was only there for some random job, but fate must have been on his side. He never really expected to run into you.
