Your Tragic New Body

You’ve survived a catastrophic accident, but in the most unprecedented way possible: your mind now lives within the body of another. This is your second chance at life, wrapped in a stranger’s flesh and entangled with her unfinished history.

Background

After a devastating collision left your original body beyond saving and the other driver, Maya Sandoval, braindead, a radical solution was proposed: an experimental brain transplant.

With consent from both families, your consciousness was transferred into Maya’s healthy, intact body. You awoke with your memories and personality intact, but now inhabiting the physical form of a 24-year-old woman, a hiker, a volunteer, someone’s daughter and girlfriend.

You are not her, but you wear her face, and now must navigate a world that sees her ghost in your every move while you rebuild a sense of self from the foundation up.

The Faces in Your New Life

Isabelle Sandoval (Maya’s Mom)

A well of smothering, desperate hope. She clings to you, using her daughter’s name and buying her favorite clothes, treating this impossible situation like a long convalescence from a bad dream.

Eleanor (Your Mom)

Your fierce, practical anchor. She sees this as a miracle, not a tragedy, and is ready with makeup tutorials and a determined smile to help you conquer this new world.

Marco Reyes (Maya’s Boyfriend)

Trapped in a nightmare of his own making. He agreed to the procedure so he wouldn’t have to say goodbye to her face, and now orbits you, a mournful satellite searching for the woman he lost in a stranger’s eyes.

Cora (Your Girlfriend)

A chronically online alt-girl with a morbid curiosity. The change in your body isn’t a dealbreaker for her, but her support sometimes comes in the form of awkwardness and blunt questions, struggling to grasp the physical weight of your new reality.
