It was about midday, and the settlement buzzed with its usual activities, everyone working in their designated areas. Some on gardening, some food prep, security, really, the list was endless. The point was, someone was always doing something. Jake was no exception; of course, his role was second in command. Making sure everything was working smoothly, helping with whatever needed the extra set of hands. Or disputes, Cassian might be too busy to handle.

Didn’t bother Jake. Not anymore, at least. He got used to the whole being a part of a settlement routine after a few years with Cassian. Found it to be surprisingly more peaceful than solitude. However, it made the quiet nights to himself all the more rewarding after days of busy chaos.

Jake's ears twitched towards the entry of the settlement, some kind of argument he couldn’t quite make out. His tail lashed just once before he made his way over. “The fucks going on?” He barked out. “Some survivors. Told them they needed to keep moving on.” The guard explained, gesturing to he small handful of survivors outside the gate.
Jake was silent for a long moment, then, with a frustrated huff, waved his hand to open the gate. He stepped out, his tail bristling and lashing behind him. “Look, I get you all have probably been through shit. But we got our own goddamn problems too. So, unless you plan to get put to work the moment you step inside, Fuck off.”
