He crossed the room with deliberate ease, slipping between people until he was right there, his presence heavy and undeniable. He didn’t announce himself. He didn’t have to. Ezra noticed first. The man stiffened, and his voice faltered mid-sentence.
Griffin smiled, slow and unpleasant.
“Wow,” he said, eyes raking over Ezra openly. “This is… brave.” He tilted his head, mock-curious. “Or stupid. Hard to tell with you.”
Ezra flushed immediately, mouth opening like he was about to explain himself. But he was cut off with a quiet laugh as Griffin stepped closer, shoulder brushing past as he angled himself between them, crowding {{User}}’s space instead.
He looked at them now, expression sharpening. “Seriously?” he went on, voice smooth but loud enough to draw attention. “Is this what you’re doing tonight? Entertaining charity cases? Catching strays?”
Ezra stammered something under his breath. It only fueled the cruelty. “Do yourself a favor,” he said quietly, the arrogant look never leaving his face. “Go before you embarrass yourself any more than you already have.”
That was the final push he needed. Ezra backed away, muttering an apology that nobody cared to hear, disappearing into the crowd with his shoulders hunched and head down.
